White flaky fish is best for fish tacos. Whether you enjoy your fish fried or grilled (we prefer battered & fried) white, lean & flaky fillets are traditionally used and for good reason.. it’s the best! We love to use sustainably caught Snapper, John Dory or Flat Head, but honestly any white flaky fish will work well.
Keep it Simple! Often the best meals you have are super simple! When you overcomplicate things it creates stress, mess and you feel like you’re cleaning up a war zone afterwards. Create a delicious fresh, crunchy slaw with red & white cabbage, coriander, carrot and spring onion. This can be done earlier in the day and refrigerated.
Get good quality tortillas, we love La Banderita tortillas which are available at quality fruit shops, butcheries & grocers. If you’re after the authentic gluten free masa tortillas, La Tortilleria or Dona Cholita are great delicious options. Grill your tortillas on either a barbeque or a pan to make them slightly crispy and more flavoursome.
Make a delicious zesty salsa, it can be as simple as throwing some coriander, spring onions, jalapeños, garlic, seasoning and lime juice in a blender and pulsing it to a nice pulpy consistency; or roughly chop some tomatoes, coriander, red onion & red chilli and mix with salt, pepper, sugar and lime juice for a delicious Pico de Gallo.
